Today the Washington D.C. Current have announced the signings of three players to join the team for the remainder of the season.
Joining the Current will be two-year veteran, Freddie Tsai, and two practice squad players, Jake Radack, and Austin Bartenstein. The new additions bring the active roster to 30 players with 13 veterans, and 17 MLU rookies.
Frederick Tsai #2 — After playing for two seasons with the Current from 2014-15, Tsai makes his return to the active roster for 2016. Due to graduate studies, Tsai was unable to commit to the squad until this point of the season. An alumni of the University of Maryland – College Park, the 26-year-old has recorded five goals, four assists, and six blocks in the 146 points played during his career, and was an active part of the 2014 MLU Champions.
Austin Bartenstein #27 — Former captain of the University of Mary Washington’s ultimate team, the 2011 graduate has spent several years abroad. Overseas in Taiwan, Bartenstein taught English to children and has since moved up to recruiting. Still finding time to play ultimate, Bartenstein is going to be making his professional debut with the Current.
Jake Radack #33 — A senior from Woodrow Wilson High School, Radack moves up to the active roster after being signed to practice squad early in the off-season. He has experience playing as a handler and was invited to tryout for the U-20 Men’s Junior National Team earlier this year.
This weekend, Tsai and Bartenstein are expecting to make their season debuts with the team, pending league approval.
