Peter Prial and Lloyd Blake shared the honor of winning this week’s US Coachways Offensive Play of the Week for Week 2.
The pair earned the award by executing on a beautiful give-and-go score midway through the second quarter of the Current’s 18-15 victory over the Philadelphia Spinners.
Prial held the disc on the near sideline 20 yards out from the goal and fed a pass to a hard charging Blake. As soon as the disc left his hand Prial raced up the sideline into acres of open space. After gaining possession and setting his feet Blake lofted a simple backhand to Prial for the easy score.
“It’s super exciting that we got play of the week,” said Prial. “It wasn’t a set play or anything, just when I threw it I saw there was a bunch of space in front of me to work with and Lloyd obviously saw the same thing. It worked out nicely because the defender was tracking the throw so I was able to get a few steps on him right away and Lloyd made a great throw out into that space for me to run onto.”
