Over the past three seasons, Dominique Gibson has been a playmaker for the Washington D.C. Current. The athletic cutter out of Virginia Commonwealth University has become known for timely layout bids and fantastic catches.

One of those catches occurred in Week 3 of the 2016 MLU Season, as the Current tried to stop the bleeding as the New York Rumble attempted to complete an epic 4th quarter comeback. Entering the quarter down 11-15, the Rumble had stormed back to take a 20-18 lead in the final minute. Knowing they had to score quickly the Current took a deep shot to their most prominent scoring threat, Delrico Johnson, who was fighting off a pair of defenders. As the disc flew towards Johnson in the end zone, New York’s Marques Brownlee was able to get his hands on in, blocking the pass towards the turf.

However, as the disc fell towards the ground, the speedy Gibson, who had been a few yards behind Johnson and his defenders, dove at full speed. Somehow, Gibson was able to get under the disc and pull it in for the score.

While the Rumble would hold on to win (BOXSCOREWATCH GAME), Gibson’s incredible catch closed the deficit to a single goal and gave the Current a chance in the final minute of the game.
